Essay virtues

We must know what a virtue is before going on with the essay. A Virtue is a quality of moral goodness or excellence. When we speak of individual virtues, we are talking about qualities that we aspire to. A virtue must be cultivated for it to become a habitual way of living in the world around us.
For each of us, there is a core set of virtues or principles that serves our life mission. When we violate these, we violate ourselves. In addition, there are many other virtues that in turn serve this moral core. However, they are constantly in competition with each other, which creates a complicated sort of balancing act that some call relativism.

In any given situation, we must weigh these virtues against each other by considering how they serve our personal moral core and life mission. For example, sometimes a life mission will be served by cultivating tolerance or patience. Other times it will be better served by exercising judgment and activism. Knowing how to balance the virtues in any one situation requires us to make discerning judgments. The practices of meditation, study, and contemplation can guide us in this endeavor. Virtues contribute to people’s actions in today’s society. Society as a whole has a common set of virtues that many people agree on. In today’s society, these are known as laws. Virtues also mold the individual outlook on life, and give them the moral’s to do what is right. This way, people should reenforce their greatest and most important virtues to make their character traits stronger and to make the Earth we live in a better place to be at. Some of the most important virtues for this case are Virtue and Patience; In order to survive these days, there needs to be at least some standards and goals of morality in a person's life. The term "virtue" has traditionally been used to designate morally good character traits such as benevolence, charity, honesty, wisdom, and honor. Although ethicists do not commonly offer a definitive list of virtues, the number of virtues discussed is often short and their moral significance is clear. Hume's analysis of the virtues departs from this tradition both in terms of the quantity of virtues discussed and their obvious moral significance.... Moral excellence is definitely hard to achieve, but is something worth while to attempt. Empathy,it is one very important virtue and it is seeing, feeling and understanding the world as if you are the other, and it is the most important practice you can do to make the world a better place. The primary cause of unhealth in our lives, our relationships, and the world; is our failure to move beyond ego-centrism. If you want to live in a better world, the first step to achieve or conquer that is by not being ego-centric at all. People should be selfless, be forgiving and kind, be loving and genuine; all of these virtues give more positive character traits and points to your personality which is helpful at making our Earth a better place to live in.
